Santa was very good to me this past Christmas...I am now the proud owner of a Ruger Mark II Compact .308 (bolt action) with a Bushnell Trophy 3-9 x 40 scope.  I took it and had it bore-sighted, then I went to the shooting range and DEADorALIVE and I got it dialed in at 100 yards and my last group of three were all within one inch of each other and one of the shots was placed dead center!

Sweet little rifle.  I've said it before, and I'll say it again...If Ruger sold this rifle for around $375, instead of $200 more than that, they wouldn't be able to keep up with demand for them!  The rifle is 36" overall, looks like a youth model, but shoulders and feels like a full size model, and, at 5 3/4 lbs. unscoped, is AMAZINGLY light.  You'd think that the light weight would lend itself to more felt recoil, but that's not the case, either, and with the addition of a SVL recoil pad, it's a very comfortable and fun shooter.
