Mono or Braid, what size and why?

Just wanted to ask which, how big and why?  I usually prefer the PLine and use 30 and 50 if I really need some big stuff.  I have become a BIG fan of suffix braid, it really is nice.  I have a spool of the gorilla braid I am going to try for one reason, it is 35 lb.  A little heavier yet the same diameter.  Don't like the color really though and not too sure I will like a sinking line.  Might have its applications though, time will tell.  That being said, I always tie a Flouro top with a nail not basically. I prefer 20 lb pure flouro and have found them to all be about the same, but lean towards vanish and PLine.  I buy the big spools and put them on smaller more manageable wading sized spools for leader material.

I use 30lb power pro for my plastics and spinners/spoons, and 50lb power pro for my tops and maulers.  That being said i use a fluro leader on all rigs.  I will never use 20lb fluro again after losing three fish in one tourney last year.  I am now using 25 and 30lb seagar fluro and have not had one break me since.  Look forward to seeing you in Rockport in a few weeks.  Gonna be down there next weekend, let me know if your gonna be around those parts.

No I was too tired to pay much attention to them, I was kinda surprised how well they rode right there.

I prefer to fish with 12lb. ande mono with a 20lb. Gamma flourocarbon leader, for topwater fishing.  For spinnerbaits and soft plastics, I've recently started using 30lb. suffix braid tied to a 20lb. gamma leader with the double uni knot. Oh on the mono to flouro, I use a standard blood knot.  Rhett
